Internal Complaint Committee (ICC)

Introduction:

NSS College of Commerce and Economics is a co-educational institution committed to providing equal opportunities for all. The college fosters a harmonious atmosphere where men and women collaborate seamlessly. The institution has zero tolerance against disrespect and exploitation of women.

The College has established a dedicated Internal Complaint committee to address the issues of Gender discrimination and Sexual harassment in the campus. The establishment of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) aligns with the provisions outlined in the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act - Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act of 2013, Additionally, the ICC's creation is mandated by the University Grants Commission (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations of 2015, reaffirmed on 2nd May 2016.

The Committee works towards sensitizing both students and staff to prevent instances of sexual harassment on campus and is responsible for receiving and investigating complaints, and recommending appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with University Grants Commission (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of sexual harassment of women employees and students in higher educational institutions) Regulations, 2015- 2nd May 2016.

Functions of the ICC
The primary functions of the ICC encompass:
  • Prevention of Sexual Harassment: Implementation of measures to proactively prevent incidents of sexual harassment within the workplace.
  • Promotion of Gender Amity: Fostering an environment that discourages discrimination and sexual harassment against women, while promoting gender amity among both students and employees.
  • Women Empowerment Programs: Periodic organization of programs aimed at empowering women, contributing to their personal and professional growth.
  • Creation of Conducive Environment: Ensuring a conducive and congenial atmosphere for women within the organizational setting.
Who can approach ICC?
Any aggrieved woman who has suffered harassment at workplace can approach ICC. Aggrieved woman includes: a) Any woman working in institute b) Someone visiting workplace, or c) Student.
